Some news around our tables – you may know the ones we have, after multiple valiant repairs, are actually dangerous – the legs fall down without warning when they are being carried, and this may cause broken skin on legs and arms that don’t heal as well as they once did. We were given another $1000 donation in September towards the BBQ which had already been donated, so we are buying some tables with moulded leg fittings to replace the current ones. If you would like an old table, you are most welcome to have one – they are sturdy enough when erected – and for $10 may be useful to you. Please let Cass know if you’re interested in one or two. We are also encouraging our people to use cash when buying coffees, market day purchases, concert tickets etc, as every time we use the card reader, it skims a percentage – it’s not going to break us, but always better knowing the whole amount is going towards the church. Please don’t shy away from using your card if you don’t have cash on you – just something to be aware of. At our spiritual retreat on Thursday we considered in depth “Love your enemies”. This is perhaps one of the hardest of Jesus’ teachings – but we were truly inspired by the story of Marguerite Barankitse – if you get a chance, research her story – in the light of how many enemies she loved, there’s every chance our own challenges pale into insignificance. Fabulous news this week – our Moderator Rev Bruce Moore is planning to celebrate 100 years of worship here next December – that’s very exciting indeed!
